Political commentator and Fox News host BIll O’Reilly won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series after former winner Jim Parsons was disqualified.
Richard Prowzer, spokesman of The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which puts on the Emmys, said in a recent statement to the press that Mr Parsons lost “eligibility to receive the Emmy once it was revealed that an error in vote counting put The O’Reilly Factor as the winning show.”
Mr Parons is the star of the comedy show ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and received the mistakenly awarded Emmy on September 18th.
“We offer our deepest apologies to Mr Parsons and to the public for our mistake,” said Mr Prowzer. “A computer error mistakenly placed The Big Bang Theory as the winner instead of the fan favorite The O’Reilly Factor. On behalf of the academy I would like to congratulate Mr O’Reilly on his win and his great work on his comedy news show. In all the years his show has been on the air Mr O’Reilly has never broken character, a true testament to what a great actor he is.”
“The only thing better than Mr O’Reilly biting sense of humor is the reaction of the mainstream media when they think that his show is a real news show. Bravo Mr O’Reilly, bravo.”
Mr O’Reilly is expected to comment on the announcement on his Emmy award winning show The O’Reilly Factor.
