It was reported last night that the nation's elderly were left completely clueless after late night talk show host Jay Leno forgot to explain one of his jokes.
"The anxiety was just so bad," croaks ninety-one-year-old Myrna Pickens with wide and solemn eyes, "I just didn't get it! I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and see if I need to increase my meds!"
According to other viewers of the program, Leno allegedly mentioned the terrorist group Al-Qaeda being similar to relatives, followed by a large grin that implied he had just told a joke. When the then-present crowd was silent for many painfully awkward seconds after the telling of the now terribly stale joke, however, Leno shifted his feet, grunted, and continued on in his monologue.
Pickens remarked of this, "I just thought it was such strange behavior for young Jay! Usually when he makes a funny he tells us what it means, but this time I was just left in the dark! Maybe I should call up the producers and see if it's something about my TV connection... It never did work right anyway..."
Public outrage has apparently been spread throughout the community of seniors in the US, and talk of plotting against Leno for confusing his audience by no longer watching The Tonight Show has been overheard by staff members in several nursing homes across the country. No specific details have been given, however, on this subject.
