Last night at the Frisky-a-Gogo comedy club in downtown Firefalls, Wisconsin, a comedian’s joke was met with resounding silence from the audience. It only later occurred to the comedian that the audience found the joke so funny, they forgot to laugh. Mabel Bleary, age 74, said in an interview afterwards, “I thought it was so funny I forgot to laugh.”
When asked what the joke was, Mabel said, “I forgot that too, I have trouble remembering a lot of things these days.” And what of the rest of the audience? Did they forget to laugh also on account of the high hilarity? “I asked Ethel and Agnes, and they both aren’t sure if they were asleep or forgot to laugh also. It must have been a very funny joke,” she thoughtfully added.
The comedian could not be reached for comment.
