Colorado Springs, CO- Local “writer” Nick Powell cannot come up with a new idea. For days, Powell has tried to create some sort of story or article out of nothing, but continually ended up staring at a blank screen, unable to produce content. When asked about his issue, Powell was at a loss for words.
Scientists have always theorized that Powell's issue is something called “Writer's Block”, a problem that plenty of other writers have experienced. It's a debilitating syndrome that can leave many, once inspired writers with nothing but an empty note pad or a blank Word document. The cause of Writer's Block is still being studied, as it can be diagnosed in anyone, any day. Even some of the greatest authors of all time have been said to be inflicted with this disease and many believe it to be why there are only seven Harry Potter books and three Lord of the Rings novels.
“Every day, Writer's Block brings suffering to thousands of authors, bloggers, and journalists. It usually happens when a writer is trying to come up with something on his/her own, but seemingly can't find inspiration.” explains Dr. Isaac J. Crawford, a leading expert in the study and understanding of Writer's Block. “Some days, this disease can leave writers not wanting to do anything but lay in bed all day. It has even led many writers to start drinking, as though the cure to Writer's Block lay at the bottom of a bottle”. When asked about any home remedies or even a possible cure for Writer's Block, Dr. Crawford states that the best medicine is to sleep, read a book, watch a movie, or even listen to music.
Powell hopes that he will be able to come up with something new sooner than later, as he feels it is time for him to write again. In the mean time, he plans on relaxing at home and catching up on episodes of Game of Thrones and The Vampire Diaries. He continues to pray for a cure.
