Researchers at Columbia University conducted a six month study of the effect of Kesha’s music on the brain. They concluded that listening to Kesha’s songs can cause significant harm to brain function.
The study subjected 12 Rhesus monkeys to Kesha’s music an hour a day for one week. The songs included hits ‘We R Who We R’, ‘Your Love Is My Drug’, and ‘Tik Tok’. The monkeys were taught to listen to each song and then press a color coded button to express their opinion of the song. “Within seconds of playing ‘Blah Blah Blah', we noticed some unusual behavior,” says lead researcher David Antonelli.
"The monkeys started smearing feces on the speakers and hurling themselves against the glass enclosure like they were trying to escape. When she sang, 'Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat, just show me where your dick's at," one monkey actually chewed his own tail off, ripped it in two, and stuck the parts in his ears.”
Two control groups of monkeys were also used. One group listened to songs by other contemporary artists including Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, and John Mayer.
The other was injected with a psychotropic drug known to impair brain function. The brain abnormalities in the ‘Kesha Monkeys’ was higher than both groups, though the ‘Bieber Monkeys’ were a close second.
